Why not join us for a leisurely tour around the stunning and dramatic landscape of the North of the Isle of Arran including a Whisky Tour at our famous Distillery located in the picturesque village of Lochranza. There will be multi stops for photographs, shopping and to take in the atmosphere of the area, including the dramatic northern ridge lines and hills such as the iconic Devils Punchbowl and Witches Step. Not forgetting to keep a lookout for Scotland's "Big Five" of red deer, otters, golden eagles, red squirrels and seals !! There will be extra time to spend at some of the stops on this tour.
The tour will depart from Auchrannie Spa Hotel car park in Brodick. If you require to be picked up from another location please let us know and we will try our best to accommodate. We will leave Brodick and take the coastal route in an anti-clockwise direction towards the beautiful coastal villages of Corrie and Sannox before heading inland over the Boguillie toward the Distillery. We will take a drive through North Glen Sannox which is famous for the clearances of 1829 and as we climb you will be able to take in the breath-taking views of the Northern ridges.
We will descend into Glen Chalmadale heading in the direction of our next stop, The Lochranza Distillery where we will stop for a Whisky Tour (included in price & must be 18 years or over to consume alcohol during the tour) and the chance to grab a quick bite to eat and the opportunity to purchase some of the famous Arran Malt. The area is home to the purest water in all of Scotland – water that’s been cleansed by granite and softened by peat as it slowly meanders from the mountaintops into nearby Loch na Davie.
Our next stop will be Lochranza Castle, a tower house on a peninsula extending into a beautiful sea loch. We will then drive towards Catacol which is well known for it famous row of cottages called the 'Twelve Apostles'. Continuing on we will head through Prinmill spotting wildlife as we go before making our way to the Standing Stones located in Machrie Moor. To reach the stones is a 30 minute walk which is optional.
Our return journey will commence and we will have a stop for some retail therapy at Arran's home farm where there are several shopping outlets such as Arran Aromatics, Arran Cheese Shop, Janie's & Simon Thorborn's Pottery. Thereafter we will drop off back at Auchrannie Hotel Spa around 4pm.
